The viewer is amazed every time without fail. Over the
years, there have been many music album and magazine
covers that use this effect and even till today they are still
fascinating to look at. It is high time to implement this
spectacular look yourself! In this case, it is less of artistic skill
compared to the correct procedure: Place your model on a
stool, place the camera on a tripod, determine the image
section and press the shutter button. Subsequently remove
the stool and person from the image and take another photo.
You now only need to superimpose both photos in Photoshop
and hide the stool using a mask - Voila!
Plain room, crisp shadows
For this type of photos, decide upon the details regarding
quality of the image as often as possible. Use a studio flash to
additionally illuminate the model. Also, pay attention to an
aesthetic shadow - the photo will appear authentic and airy
this way. Huge, empty rooms underline this effect and draw
the attention of the viewer towards the subject. It is much
more difficult if you want to set this all up in nature: Light and
scenario often change from picture to picture which
consequently and clearly means more editing on the computer
as it is not just the stool that needs to be hidden. It is better to
have an indoor setup if you want to achieve success for these
types of photos.
