2014’s biggest internet security
bug, and the worst thing about it
is that users can’t do much about it but
change their passwords and wait for
web service owners to fix it if they are
using outdated versions of OpenSSL.
Trend Micro has recently introduced
the Heartbleed Detector, a Chrome
browser plug-in, as well as an Android
mobile app that is free to download.
The plug-in variant is available for both
Mac and Windows-based users, which
helps to check for vulnerable URLs with
a single click.
The company has also discovered
that apps that use OpenSSL are just
as vulnerable to attacks as websites
are, and the app variant checks the
servers these apps communicate with to
determine if they are also susceptible to
the Heartbleed bug.
