with exotic wildlife? Rarely so. You may
be surprised to know that there is actually
a lot of diverse wildlife within city limits.
One doesn’t have to travel to a sanctuary to
photograph animals or birds.
For instance, did you know about
the migration of the Greater and Lesser
flamingos to Mumbai? Or that cities like
Chandigarh are filled with diverse species
of birds and in Jaipur, monkeys are seen
at every corner of every street? Try telling
stories about the interdependence and
relationships, both positive and negative, of
nature and man.
Urban Composition
Instead of concentrating on extreme
close-ups of wildlife, include buildings,
roads and walls in the frame, along with the
animals. For instance, a sparrow perched on
a barbed wire depicts its fight for survival in
the city beautifully. If used well, elements
like buildings and walls can work to your
advantage in urban wildlife photography.
Try to juxtapose these elements carefully.
