New SSDs incorrectly detected by the operating system

  So there was SSD on sale, you
could not resist the temptation
and bought it to upgrade your
system. Unfortunately the new
Flash drive doesn’t produce the
desired effect. On the contrary:
The device is not even available
when your system starts. If you
have run into this problem, try
again with another SATA port
on your motherboard. Most
motherboards today will have
two controllers on-board. Make
sure you have the latest BIOS
update for your
motherboard.
The required
Controller
driver updates
are mostly
added later via
BIOS updates.
If that
also doesn’t
work then
temporarily
deactivate the
AHCI in the
BIOS for testing
- this technique
normally
ensures a
smooth working
relationship
between the system and SATA
controllers. However, AHCI achieves the
exact opposite for older boards.
