As history has
proven time
and time again, movies based on video games are usually pretty
horrendous and the first live-action Mortal Kombat released in
1995 and its 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation were just
bad. Thanks to Kevin Tanchareon, they now have a web series that
can help wash that bad taste and memory out of their memories
that was left by the movies.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy is a prequel to the original game and the
first season is used to explain the background stories of several
characters from the series. The second season is then used to
cover the tournament itself. For a web series, this has got to be
one of the most star-studded project as it features names like
Michael Jai White (Spawn, Blood and Bone) as Jax, Jeri Ryan (Star
Trek: Voyager) as Sonya Blade in season one and Brian Tee (The
Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) as Liu Kang and Casper Van Dien
(Starship Troopers) as Johnny Cage in season two. They even
managed to get Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa to reprise his role as Shang
Tsung. The fight scenes are fantastically done in this series and
even the story has a very nice twist to it.
